    2026 Superintendent of the Year Award

    RMGCSA Superintendent of the Year Award

     CRITERIA:

    The Rocky Mountain GCSA Superintendent of the Year Award is given to an individual who has expressed outstanding dedication, care and commitment to the Rocky Mountain Golf Course Superintendents Association, GCSAA, the golf industry at large, and his/her community.

    COMMITTEE:

    The committee will consist of current President of the Rocky Mountain GCSA, two Past Presidents, and 2 members of the Rocky Mountain GCSA Board of Directors. The committee will present a candidate to the board based on nominations. Superintendents who have been nominated in previous years will be given consideration.

    NOMINATIONS:

    Any member of Rocky Mountain GCSA may nominate an individual starting in May and ending October 1st. Evidence of substantiation must accompany the nomination. Nominations are to be sent to the Executive Director.

    1. Information and publicity requesting nominations shall allow sufficient time to meet the deadline. A call for nominations will go to members in May.
    2. Copies of the nomination and all supportive evidence shall be submitted to the entire Board of Directors for their perusal prior to the August board meeting. All nominations will be placed on the agenda.
    3. All Superintendent of the Year nominations and supporting materials submitted to the Rocky Mountain GCSA’s Board of Directors become the sole property of the Rocky Mountain GCSA. Requests for copies of nominations or supporting materials cannot be fulfilled.

    The candidates will be identified by written nominations.  Nomination forms will be sent to all Members, Club Managers and PGA Members at member clubs in May.  Nominees are not allowed to nominate themselves.  Nominees may be nominated by their colleagues, peers, club managers, family, or friends.  A short bio on each candidate should be submitted.  The nomination forms should then be given to committee for review and recommendations should be submitted to the Rocky Mountain GCSA Board and used as a guide in the selection process.  The nomination forms should be mailed in or submitted online with a deadline of October 1st. All nominations should be sent to the Executive Director.

    QUALIFICATIONS:

    To be considered for the Superintendent of the Year Award, a nominee must meet the following qualifications:

    1. Must have made an outstanding contribution to the advancement of the golf course superintendent’s profession. The contribution must be significant in both substance and duration. The outstanding contribution may be, or have been, regional in nature. Community involvement will also be considered.
    2. Must not have been a recipient of this award during the preceding ten (10) years.
    3. The nominee will be evaluated on his/her nominations, volunteer work within the Rocky Mountain GCSA, involvement with the GCSAA, work ethic, industry involvement, community involvement, years as a superintendent and/or with the Rocky Mountain GCSA and prior nominations.

    ELIGIBILTY:

    Current members of the Board of Directors and their immediate families are ineligible to receive the Superintendent of the Year Award. Rocky Mountain GCSA Board Members, their immediate family members, or immediate staff members are not eligible to receive awards.

    JUDGING:

    The Board of Directors shall be the sole judge of the nominee’s qualifications to receive the award. The procedure to be used by the Board for determining the recipient is that a two-thirds vote is required of the directors presents the award to any nominee.

    PRESENTATION:

    1. The award shall be presented during the Annual Conference.
    2. The outgoing Rocky Mountain GCSA President shall introduce the recipient of the award and shall present a plaque to the recipient.
    3. The recipient shall make a brief acceptance speech and pose for appropriate photographs during or after the awards presentation.
